About The Position

Reporting to the Executive Director, Iqaluit Health Services (HIS), the Inventory Control Analyst (Analyst) plays a critical role in maintaining optimal inventory levels across IHS. This position is responsible for compiling and analyzing inventory data, identifying trends, and forecasting future needs to support efficient supply chain operations. By ensuring accurate stock levels, the Analyst helps prevent overstock and stockouts, contributing to cost savings and operational efficiency. As a key first point of contact, the Analyst locates and expedites orders, resolves discrepancies against purchase orders, and processes product returns, and clarifies policy and procedural requirements. The position also ensures that all areas of IHS are stocked with appropriate levels of medical consumables for their operations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a post-secondary certificate in purchasing, supply chain, or business-related program;
  • Minimum five (5) years previous experience in purchasing, accounts payable, supply chain;
  • Previous experience in inventory control in a healthcare setting;
  • Valid Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) by Air and WHIMIS certification;
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures IHS maintain adequate inventory; coordinates with materials management “return” and “recall” items in a timely manner;
  • Analyzes consumption patterns and forecast future inventory needs based on historical data and operational trends;
  • Maintains and updates inventory databases and software systems;
  • Collaborates with procurement, clinical, and logistics teams to ensure timely and accurate replenishment of supplies;
  • Conducts regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits to verify accuracy;
  • Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHIMIS), and internal inventory control policies;
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of inventory: acquisition, storage, internal distribution, and disposal.
