About The Position

Aston Carter is hiring for an Inventory Clerk in Indianapolis, IN! This position offers competitive pay with a top company in the area. The role is responsible for reviewing upcoming shipping requirements and researching the ability to deliver product as requested. This includes informing customers of truck space needed in advance, maintaining accuracy to avoid chargebacks, and communicating problems proactively. The clerk will determine proper shipping container/pallet sizes, calculate floor space, and inform dock and picking staff of instructions. They will also print/write paperwork for outside vendor activities, process received paperwork, develop pick lists, and review current inventory locations and schedules. Additionally, the role involves determining if product is domestic or international, assigning proper containers/skids, and printing all required shipping paperwork. The Inventory Clerk will communicate with internal staff to act on blocked shipments, process OSV paperwork to place parts in inventory correctly, and perform inventory transactions and cycle counts to ensure accuracy.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in an inventory clerk or a shipping clerk/receiving clerk role in a warehouse or manufacturing setting
  • Experience monitoring and tracking inventory levels
  • Experience coordinating and communicating internally and externally in regards to shipment updates
  • Computer Skills - Email (Outlook). Excel (Sum formulas, opening tabs, adding/deleting columns/rows)
  • Epicore is their new software

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for review of upcoming shipping requirements and researching our ability to deliver product as requested.
  • Responsible for informing customer on customer website of truck space needed in advance of actual shipping date. Maintains accuracy to avoid chargebacks for excess/shortfall situations. Communicates with customer in advance if problems arise.
  • Determines proper shipping container/pallet sizes needed to ship product without damage. Calculates floor space needed for each customer.
  • Informs dock and/or picking staff of containers needed and other shipping instructions to meet requirements in advance.
  • Prints/Writes paperwork for outside vendor activities and forwards to shipping dock. Processes paperwork received from OSV.
  • Develops pick lists and staging areas for pickers/dock staff to pull and stage. Reviews current inventory locations, schedules from OSV for returning product, and WIP at Shelby/Madison and communicates plan and activities needed to proper personnel or OSV’s.
  • Determines by Customer Codes if product is domestic or international and assigns proper containers/skids. Communicates this to Dock employees.
  • Prints all required paperwork, including packing slips, bar codes, waybills, and other international paperwork that may be required. Attaches to boxes, containers, or places inside containers as needed and required to meet shipment requirements.
  • May write OE Pack instructions outlining special shipping requirements.
  • Communicates with internal staff to act on blocked shipments. Knows the internal process and system requirements to unblock sales orders, handle qc issues, etc.
  • Processes OSV paperwork to place parts in inventory correctly.
  • Performs inventory transactions in proper accounts to receiving part into one inventory location or transfer/combine parts into another location.
  • Performs cycle counts as needed to ensure inventory accuracy.
