About The Position

Rock West Composites, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Inventory Control Specialist. Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. This position is located in our San Diego, CA-Otay Mesa location and reports to the Material Manager. Position Summary: Managing inventory items, controlling day-to-day inventory operations, and implementing inventory control protocols.

  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to interface will all aspects of daily operations: design, operations, production, sales, customer service, management, financial and quality.
  • Strong capability with MS Office Suite, including capability with creating, editing and maintaining complex Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as: safety rules, company policy and procedure instructions, business periodicals, professional journals and technical or government regulations/reports.
  • Ability to write general business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers and employees.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts to ensure work within budgeting requirements.
  • Work independently to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where no standardization may exist, and subsequently define that standardization for Rock West Composites.
  • Ability to interpret and provide a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and/or quality principals.
  • US. Person under 22 CFR 120 (due to ITAR Restrictions)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or similar
  • General knowledge of composite materials (carbon fiber, fiberglass, prepreg)
  • Demonstrated leadership improving operational efficiency and team direction.
  • Experience with AS9100 quality system requirements

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and improving the company's inventory situation by analyzing inventory statistics to determine which products are selling and which are not.
  • Allocating inventory to the correct departments as it comes into the warehouse and arranging for pickups and shipments.
  • Coordinate and follow up with production, warehouse, and engineering personnel to ensure appropriate procurement, scheduling, and movement of materials and services.
  • Manage inventory levels to avoid over or under stocking and minimize cash requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Stock Operations Manager to ensure adequate storage for incoming materials.
  • Assist with Receiving and Logistics teams to ensure products are received and shipped within a 24-hour time period.
  • Assist with maintaining accuracy and completeness of inventory data within QuickBooks.
  • Creating and maintaining inventory databases and systems for accurately managing inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned
