About The Position

The Inventory & Capital Asset Accountant is responsible for managing inventory accounting, capital asset tracking, and related financial processes. This role ensures accurate recording, reconciliation, and reporting of inventory and fixed assets while supporting procurement and payment cycles within NetSuite. The Inventory Accountant position objectives include collaborating with the Inventory Management team to align physical inventory needs with accounting policies and records, ensuring inventory records are received and inventory adjustments are performed in a timely manner, maintaining supporting documentation for journal entries, upholding and improving accuracy and financial integrity, minimizing discrepancies through timely identification and resolution of errors, continuously improving inventory and capital asset accounting processes for increased efficiency and quality of information, increasing automation to improve quality of work and decrease human error, providing recommendations for improvements to the capital asset and inventory accounting processes, maintaining inventory and capital asset schedules, ensuring all capital assets and inventory are properly recognized per accounting policies, and recommending improvements for maintaining schedules and reconciliations. The role also supports periodic asset verification and audit requirements. General responsibilities include performing daily accounting activities such as invoice entries and payment batches, preparing and recording accrued purchases for goods and services received but not yet invoiced monthly, ensuring inventory and capital asset entries are accurate and performed in a timely manner, maintaining proper classification and capitalization of assets in accordance with company policy, completing monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of inventory and capital asset accounts to ensure timely and accurate representation on the balance sheet, addressing inventory and capital asset discrepancies and promptly resolving them, maintaining internal controls and ensuring all required authorizations and supporting documentation are included in transactions, maintaining and improving the company’s accounting systems and financial policies relating to inventory and capital assets, and preparing capital assets schedules for audits and internal purposes as required. Other reasonable duties may be required to support the finance team and business in general.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be eligible to work and living in Canada
  • Must have a valid drivers license

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience with inventory and capital asset accounting
  • High level of proficiency with Excel for reconciliations, data analysis, and reporting
  • Knowledge of NetSuite for inventory and capital asset transactions considered an asset
  • Inventory and capital asset procurement and purchasing experience is an asset
