About The Position

Figure is an AI robotics company developing autonomous general-purpose humanoid robots. The goal of the company is to ship humanoid robots with human level intelligence. Its robots are engineered to perform a variety of tasks in the home and commercial markets. Figure is headquartered in San Jose, CA. We are looking for an Accounting Manager, with a focus on Inventory. This role will own the inventory and cost accounting, including building processes and deploying systems from end to end.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA preferred.
  • 8+ years in accounting, including 5+ years in cost and inventory accounting at a hardware or manufacturing company.
  • Prior experience as a manager at a high-growth company is a plus.
  • Deep expertise of US GAAP for inventory accounting (ASC 330), fixed assets (ASC 360), leases (ASC 842), and of the R&D vs. capitalizable cost distinction.
  • Hands-on NetSuite experience, ideally including inventory and manufacturing modules.
  • Experience with systems integration and reconciling ERP data against MES, PLM, and WMS systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a knack for identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Track record of designing and documenting controls and processes from scratch in a fast-scaling environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for successful collaboration with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Cost Accounting and Inventory Management: Track and reconcile inventory across raw materials, subassemblies, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Manage data integrity between ERP (NetSuite) and operational systems (MES, PLM, WMS). Resolve discrepancies between quantities, costs, and system records across locations or systems (e.g., NetSuite vs. MES).
  • Maintain cost model, including overhead allocation and labor/machine rates.
  • Analyze purchase price variances (PPV), material usage variances, and production inefficiencies to support margin analysis and COGS reporting.
  • Capital Asset and Fixed Asset Accounting: Maintain fixed asset schedules and manage capitalization policies for PP&E.
  • Ensure proper classification between R&D prototypes vs. capitalizable production assets.
  • Track depreciation and coordinate asset lifecycle management.
  • General accounting: Lead the automation of end-to-end transaction workflows and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support with growing volume of transactions (accounting syncs, reimbursements, etc).
  • Prepare technical accounting memos.
  • Lease accounting management: Technical accounting analysis for new leases.
  • Manage monthly lease accounting reconciliation and entries.
  • Tax: Support external reporting requirements for government grants or incentives.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual compliance.
  • Audit Readiness: Lead annual external financial audits.
