About The Position

This position cares for patients before, during and after an electrophysiology procedure. This position cares for Structural heart (including Watchman), Lead extractions, ablations, Vascular and EP pacemaker / device patients. This includes pre-procedure assessment, pre-medication, documentation of procedural process, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, mapping, post-procedure care and patient education.

Requirements

• Associates Degree in Nursing required.
• Knowledge of the nursing techniques normally acquired through the completion of an Associates Degree in Nursing culminating in licensure in the State of Michigan.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 1 month of hire or transfer (AHA).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 1 month of hire or transfer.
• Knowledge of critical care nursing as normally acquired through 2 years of experience working in a Medical Center or similar setting.
• Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
• Competency in Microsoft Windows.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Electrophysiology skills as gained through a minimum of 1 year of experience working in an electrophysiology lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs nursing care for electrophysiology procedures.
• Circulates and assists during cases, including sterilely dropping procedural supplies on tray, scrubbing in the case, and running for supplies.
• Records all pertinent information on appropriate data sheets.
• Assists Radiologic Technologists circulate cases and sterilely drop procedural supplies on tray.
• Collaborates with physicians to provide a plan of care for each individualized patient.
• Assists in other radiology/cardiology procedures as needed.
• Performs clinical functions as needed.
• Delegation and coordination of tasks and assignments of nursing care.
• Presumes the responsibility for professional growth by seeking out educational opportunities and utilizing programs in the hospital.
• Precepts / mentors new employees and students.
