Requirements
- Associates degree (or equivalent credit hours) in a health science area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.
- One (1) year of experience in invasive cardiovascular technology.

Responsibilities
- Monitor the physiological condition of cardiac patients during such procedures as heart catheterization, temporary and permanent pacemakers, intra-aortic balloon pump insertions, coronary angiography, angioplasties, streptokinase infusions, and electrophysiologic procedures.
- Calibrate and maintain equipment used in the conduction of tests and the processing of results while following departmental quality control guidelines.
- Use of sterile technique for setting up procedure, handing off supplies, and prepping the patient for the procedure.
- Calculate more complex cardiac parameters using data obtained from heart catheterizations, and IE shunt runs.
- Measure systolic, diastolic, and mean pressures from various locations in the heart and blood vessels.
- Draw ventricular silhouettes from angiograms to measure ventricular volumes and calculate the patient's ejection fraction.
- Provide hemodynamic monitoring during cardiac catheterization procedures and prepare reports for attending cardiologists to enable the proper diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Participate in in-service education and outside educational programs.
- May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.
