About The Position

The Invasive Cardiac Technologist II operates all monitoring, recording, and related equipment used during procedures, collects and prepares pertinent data for physician/staff use, and supports the physician and staff during procedures. This role involves monitoring patient electrocardiograms for cardiac dysrhythmias, operating the defibrillator, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation when required, and providing assistance in emergency situations. The technologist also assists in pre and post-procedure activities related to equipment and patient care, positions patients, and selects exposure factors for all radiographic procedures. They identify cardiovascular and peripheral vascular anatomy for documentation, perform initial troubleshooting on equipment, and arrange maintenance as necessary. Additionally, they perform calibration, cleaning, and quality assurance measures on equipment, and prepare, deliver, and pick up reusable items for re-sterilization. The role includes preparing and operating imaging, angiographic, interventional, and storage systems, and scrubbing to assist physicians with diagnostic, interventional, and surgical procedures, requiring knowledge of equipment and options. The technologist will serve as a technical resource, role model, and/or preceptor for students and staff, developing, training, and administering competencies. They will facilitate clinical problem-solving and collaborate with other departments to provide education on managing patients after procedures and other cardiology department processes. This position requires the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, understanding the principles of growth and development over the life span and assessing data reflective of patient status to meet age-specific needs.

Requirements

Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist registration (RCIS) issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) certification issued by the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE), or Electrophysiology Specialist (CEPS) certification issued by the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE), or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
Associate's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology or related field.
Typically requires 2 years of experience in a cardiac catheterization lab performing cardiac monitoring, panning and scrubbing.
Completion of an approved basic ECG interpretation course within three months of hire.
Advanced technical skills in monitoring, scrubbing and panning with proficiency in both Catheterization and Electrophysiology procedures (where required).
Demonstrated ability to quickly change priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills to work effectively with physicians, patients and other staff members.
Basic computer skills.

Prepares, delivers, and picks up reusable items for re-sterilization.
Prepares and operates imaging, angiographic, interventional and storage systems.
Scrubs to assist physician with diagnostic, interventional and surgical procedures with knowledge of equipment and equipment options.
Must be able to work with medical staff and fellows.
Serves as a technical resource, role model and/or preceptor for students and staff.
Develops, trains and administers competencies to staff.
Facilitates clinical problem solving and collaborates with other departments to provide education on managing patients after procedures and any other cardiology department processes and procedures.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
