The Invasive Cardiac Technologist I operates monitoring, recording, and related equipment during cardiac procedures. This role involves collecting and preparing data for physicians, managing reusable equipment for sterilization, and monitoring patient electrocardiograms for cardiac dysrhythmias. The technologist must be prepared to operate defibrillators, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and provide assistance in emergency situations. Responsibilities also include pre and post-procedure activities related to equipment and patient care, initial equipment troubleshooting, and performing calibration, cleaning, and quality assurance measures. The role requires identifying cardiovascular and peripheral vascular anatomy for documentation, obtaining and documenting clinical data, and preparing/operating imaging, angiographic, interventional, and storage systems. Patient positioning and selection of exposure factors for radiographic procedures are also key duties. The technologist will support physicians and staff during procedures, scrub to assist with diagnostic, interventional, and surgical procedures, and perform bloom operations. A critical aspect of this role is demonstrating knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care, understanding growth and development across the lifespan, and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
