About The Position

This course walks students through the basics to be able to run a live sound event, and how to amplify instruments for great sound in live performance. The course includes theory and science of sound, as well as applied practice in setting up instruments, monitors, mics and sound boards, and how to run sound for optimal live sound. This course assumes that students have no experience in amplified sound.

Requirements

  • A Masters degree in contemporary commercial music or significant professional experience working in live sound in professional and semi-professional contexts.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching live sound in postsecondary contexts or other contexts.
  • Knowledge of theory and science of sound, as well as practical application in live performance contexts.
