About The Position

The IDEA Interventionist Teacher's mission is to provide targeted intervention to small groups of students who have identified academic gaps of two or more years in Reading and/or Math, with the goal of closing these gaps within one school year. This role is crucial for preparing students to participate in IDEA’s AP for All initiative. The interventionist will utilize a systematic approach including universal screening, Direct Instruction, frequent progress monitoring, and intensive, research-based interventions for students who continue to struggle. This is a grant-funded position, specifically with Title I Part A funds, and while funding may be extended, there is no guarantee of ongoing employment. All duties are tied to the grant's allowable activities.

Requirements

High level of content-area proficiency in Math and/or ELA as evidenced by teaching certification, field of study, or work experience.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution.
Knowledge of core academic subject assigned and ability to pass an IDEA content assessment.
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a K-12 classroom setting (strongly preferred).
State certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Teach Critical Student Intervention (CSI) instruction utilizing on model programming for small groups consisting of students in 3rd-8th grade that are academically at risk in reading and/or math to include students in general education, 504, Response to Intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
Teach district-approved research-based intervention to small groups consisting of students in Kinder-2nd grade (dependent on campus assignment) that are academically at risk in reading and/or math to include students in general education, 504, Response to Intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
Teach district-approved research-based intervention to small groups consisting of students that are in 9th-12th grade (dependent on campus assignment) academically at risk to graduate to include students in general education, 504, Response to Intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
Work closely with general education teachers to coordinate support for students requiring intervention.
Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations.
Learn, master, and deliver relevant content and grade-level curriculum, core content objectives, and texts.
Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.
Implement formal and informal assessments to track individual student progress and learning needs, adjusting lesson plans accordingly and updating gradebooks weekly.
Communicate student progress with students and families on a weekly basis.
Effectively facilitate and personally use technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage work-related tasks.
Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system that aligns with campus-wide initiatives while developing students’ character and sense of community in the classroom.
Help shape and develop a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each student.
Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect for the communities they identify with.
Host necessary tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needs.
Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, before and after-school duties, and school-wide meetings and functions.
Engage in summer and year-long district, school, and personal learning and development.
Spend a minimum of 40+ hours at school per week.
Undertake additional responsibilities such as after-school tutoring or Saturday school, based on scholar needs.

Benefits

Starting teacher salary for 0 years of experience is $57,500.
