About The Position

The IDEA Interventionist Teacher's primary role is to provide targeted intervention to small groups of students who have significant academic gaps (2 or more years) in Reading and/or Math. The goal is to close these gaps within one school year, ensuring students are prepared for IDEA’s AP for All initiative. This approach involves systematic and intensive support for at-risk or underperforming students, utilizing universal screening, Direct Instruction, frequent progress monitoring, and research-based interventions. This is a grant-funded position (Title I Part A) with no guarantee of ongoing employment beyond the grant's duration. All duties are tied to allowable activities within the grant program.

Requirements

  • High level of content-area proficiency in Math and/or ELA as evidenced by teaching certification, field of study, or work experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution.
  • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned and ability to pass an IDEA content assessment.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Critical Student Intervention (CSI) instruction utilizing on model programming for small groups of students in 3rd-8th grade who are academically at risk in reading and/or math.
  • Teach district-approved research-based intervention to small groups of students in Kinder-2nd grade (dependent on campus assignment) who are academically at risk in reading and/or math.
  • Teach district-approved research-based intervention to small groups of students in 9th-12th grade (dependent on campus assignment) who are academically at risk to graduate.
  • Work closely with general education teachers to coordinate support for students requiring intervention.
  • Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments.
  • Learn, master, and deliver relevant content and grade-level curriculum, core content objectives, and texts.
  • Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.
  • Implement formal and informal assessments to track individual student progress and learning needs, adjusting lesson plans accordingly.
  • Update gradebook weekly.
  • Communicate students’ progress with students and families on a weekly basis.
  • Effectively facilitate and use technology as a communication and educational tool.
  • Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system aligned with campus-wide initiatives.
  • Develop students’ character and sense of community in the classroom.
  • Help shape and develop a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment.
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families.
  • Host necessary tutoring sessions to meet all students’ needs.
  • Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, before and after-school duties, and school-wide meetings and functions.
  • Engage in summer and year-long district, school, and personal learning and development.
  • Spend a minimum of 40+ hours at school per week.
  • Participate in after-school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned and based on scholar needs.
