About The Position

The IDEA Interventionist Teacher's role is to provide targeted intervention to small groups of students who have significant academic gaps (2 or more years) in Reading and/or Math. The primary goal is to close these gaps within one school year, ensuring students are prepared for IDEA's AP for All initiative. This approach involves systematic and intensive support for students at risk of or already underperforming. The interventionist will utilize universal screening, Direct Instruction, frequent progress monitoring, and research-based interventions. This is a grant-funded position (Title I Part A) with no guarantee of ongoing employment beyond the grant's duration. All duties are directly tied to the grant's allowable activities.

Requirements

  • High level of content-area proficiency in Math and/or ELA as evidenced by teaching certification, field of study, or work experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution.
  • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned and ability to pass an IDEA content assessment.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Critical Student Intervention (CSI) instruction utilizing on model programming for small groups of students in 3rd-8th grade that are academically at risk in reading and/or math to include students in general education, 504, Response to Intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
  • Teach district approved research-based intervention to small groups of students in Kinder-2nd grade (dependent on campus assignment) that are academically at risk in reading and/or math to include students in general education, 504, Response to Intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
  • Teach district approved research-based intervention to small groups of students that are in 9th-12th grade (dependent on campus assignment) academically at risk to graduate to include students in general education, 504, Response to Intervention, Special Education, and English Language Learners.
  • Work closely with general education teachers to coordinate support for students requiring intervention.
  • Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations.
  • Learn, master, and deliver relevant content and grade-level curriculum, core content objectives, and texts.
  • Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.
  • Implement formal and informal assessments to track individual student progress and learning needs, adjusting lesson plans accordingly and updating gradebooks weekly.
  • Communicate student progress with students and families on a weekly basis.
  • Effectively facilitate and personally use technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage work-related tasks.
  • Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system aligned with campus-wide initiatives, developing students' character and sense of community.
  • Help shape and develop a school-wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students and families based on trust, understanding, and respect for their communities.
  • Host necessary tutoring sessions to meet all students' needs.
  • Participate in weekly manager check-ins, grade-level meetings, before and after-school duties, and school-wide meetings and functions.
  • Engage in summer and year-long district, school, and personal learning and development.
  • Spend a minimum of 40+ hours at school per week.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities such as after-school tutoring or Saturday school as needed.
