About The Position

Cleveland Clinic's Mercy Hospital is seeking an Interventional Vascular Technologist for their Cardiac Cath Laboratory. This role supports advanced therapies by assisting physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures such as angioplasty and stenting. The technologist will use fluoroscopic equipment to capture images of blood vessels, aiding in the intervention of potential heart blockages. This opportunity offers the chance to advance skills, with potential for cross-training in Electrophysiology and further educational training. The position involves working days with call responsibilities, typically from 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology.
  • Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and in good standing.
  • Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist.
  • Basic Life Support certification.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Certification in cardiovascular-interventional radiography or vascular-interventional radiology.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume angiography department.
  • Knowledge of radiologic physics and computerized vascular equipment to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy.
  • Knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology sufficient to apply to interventional and diagnostic exams.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize sterile or aseptic technique to scrub in and perform vascular, interventional, and surgical procedures per protocol.
  • Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Ensure patients safety and comfort during and after exams.
  • Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug interactions and major effects.
  • Record and maintain procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information.
  • Monitor equipment, systems, clean equipment, and effects timely repair.
  • Learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions.
