The Interventional Vascular Specialist II precepts new staff and students. They should have intermediate knowledge of x-ray equipment and troubleshooting. This role assists in more advanced procedures such as pulmonary thrombectomy, AAA, TEVAR, FEVAR, and complex procedures including multiple wire exchanges and the use of long wires and OTW balloons. The specialist should be proficient with specialty devices like laser, Penumbra, Inari, and Shockwave. They circulate, monitor, and scrub all Interventional Vascular procedures, troubleshoot imaging equipment, and collaborate with biomedical engineers. Responsibilities also include participating in procedural charging, maintaining supply management, acting quickly in emergency situations, discussing plans with physicians, and assisting with high-risk procedures. Cross-training is expected to support departmental needs. The role requires understanding of x-ray systems, including panning tables and angles, managing access sites, and knowledge of radiation safety, vascular anatomy, lesion types, supply features, and sterile technique. Effective communication with the team, patients, families, and medical staff is essential.
