About The Position

Saint Joseph Hospital is seeking an Interventional Technologist to prepare and assist physicians during complex interventional procedures, ensuring optimal imaging and patient safety. The role involves preparing the procedure room, operating advanced imaging equipment, monitoring patient vitals, and assisting with instruments while maintaining sterile fields. Success in this role requires expert knowledge of interventional principles, meticulous attention to detail, and collaborative skills in a high-pressure environment. The technologist will operate c-arm radiation equipment, provide radiation protection, and demonstrate competency for all procedural applications. Responsibilities include preparing sterile fields without error, functioning as a scrub assist and hemodynamic monitor, and being knowledgeable about the prep and use of all current devices in Cath Lab/IR/Endovascular inventory. This includes devices and adjunct therapies such as atherectomy, IABP, IVUS, Impella, CTO, DES, DCB, OCT, thrombectomy, and embolic coils. Procedures encompass PCI, PTCA, and PTA, cerebral and visceral angiography and interventions, stent placement, line placements, dialysis access maintenance, and pacemaker and ICD implant. The role demands rapid decision-making, critical thinking, and clinical leadership skills, including acting as a preceptor. The technologist must respond quickly and effectively to STEMI, Stroke, respiratory and cardiac arrest situations. Additionally, they will provide patient/family education related to procedures and cardiovascular disease risk factors, assist nursing staff in all aspects of patient care, and report any deviations of standards to the nurse leader.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Radiologic Technology, upon hire
  • Medical Radiographer: KY, upon hire
  • Registered Technologist Radiography ARRT, upon hire or Registered Technologist Bone Densitometry, upon hire or Registered Technologist Computed Tomography, upon hire or Registered Technologist Cardio Interventional Radiography, upon hire or Registered Technologist Mammography, upon hire or Registered Technologist Magnetic Resonance Imaging, upon hire or Registered Technologist Nuclear Medicine Technology, upon hire or Registered Technologist Quality Management, upon hire or Registered Technologist Radiation Therapy, upon hire or Registered Technologist Vascualr Inteventional Rad, upon hire or Registered Technologist Vascular Sonography, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 90 Days

Responsibilities

  • Prepare sterile fields without error or violation of integrity of aseptic technique.
  • Function as scrub assist and hemodynamic monitor.
  • Be knowledgeable regarding prep and use of all current devices in Cath Lab/IR/Endovascular inventory.
  • Perform procedures including PCI, PTCA, and PTA, cerebral and visceral angiography and interventions, stent placement, line placements, dialysis access maintenance, pacemaker and ICD implant.
  • Demonstrate rapid decision making, critical thinking, and clinical leadership skills.
  • Act as a preceptor.
