About The Position

Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute's Interventional and Structural Heart Program is seeking a Full-time advanced practice provider (APP) to join our growing team. This position is occupied by board certified physician assistants and/or acute care nurse practitioners trained and proficient in providing cardiac services. The APP in this position will function at the top of their license in the inpatient hospital and outpatient clinic-based setting in collaboration with a supervising physician and other members of a multidisciplinary team. This role will be an integral component of a high functioning multidisciplinary team of providers including cardiology APPs, interventional cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and imaging cardiologists. The APP is responsible for inpatient daily rounds, consultations, admissions, and discharges, along with clinic appointments. The APP is competent inpatient examinations, medication management, and ordering laboratory/radiologic testing and interpretation of results, including ECGs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program.
  • Current license to practice as a NP or PA in North Carolina.
  • Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required.
  • BLS/ACLS Certified.
  • Nurse practitioners with Master's degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice.
  • ACNP, AGACNP required based on population served.
  • Nurse practitioners are required to have Acute Care Certification.
  • Physician Assistants with certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants required.
  • 1+ years of experience as a provider required; experience in Cardiology.
  • Highly motivated with superb communication and organizational skills with a commitment to provide quality care to the patients we serve in the Greater Charlotte community.
  • Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling.
  • Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
  • Must speak English fluently and in understandable terms.
  • Must possess intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch, and finger dexterity.
  • Must have the ability to react and perform in stressful situations.
  • Master's Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required.
  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required.

Nice To Haves

  • ACNP, AGACNP, AGNP, PNP, or PNP-AC board certification preferred based population served.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patients pre and post procedurally.
  • Perform admission, rounding, consult and discharge notes on patients in the inpatient and ED setting, along with same day procedure setting.
  • Perform clinic visits in the outpatient setting.
  • Participate in committees, especially those around improving care for individual service lines.
  • Participate in the education of APP fellows, MD students, residents, or in onboarding of new APPs.
  • Work independently and work well with a team.
  • Manage patients undergoing catheter-based interventions for coronary artery disease and valvular heart disease, along with providing general cardiology care and heart failure management in an inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • Performs initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations, and daily assessments.
  • Records findings of examinations, assessments and plan of care.
  • Writes appropriate prescriptions and administers medications.
  • Orders and interprets daily laboratory and radiology examinations.
  • Determines treatment plan for patient.
  • Documents all patient encounters, records observations, interventions, and actions in a medically appropriate manner on the patient's medical record.
  • Acts as a patient advocate for the population served.
  • Attends, participates and contributes to group/practice meetings and development of policies and procedures when requested.
