Under the supervision of the Radiologist and according to established policies and procedures, operates imaging equipment as required, to obtain fluoroscopic images according to Radiologist specifications; will assist the Radiologist in protocols/procedures as required. The Interventional Radiology Technologist is trained to assist physicians with a wide variety of minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures. The technologist prepares patients for procedures by reviewing medical history, draping and positioning the patient, preparing procedural/testing sites and administering contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. The technologist works closely with physicians and nurses to assist with monitoring patient conditions continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. Must be able to provide professional and quality care while following hospital policies, procedures and standards. May be responsible for specific areas of instruction in the training of new staff or others in specialty assigned areas for procedures, protocols, equipment and/or safety issues.
