Performs a variety of duties to assure efficient scheduling of patients and staff, as well as maintenance of equipment and department files. Is capable of operating all physiological equipment and assists the operation of Radiology equipment for all diagnostic and interventional procedures. Understands and satisfies the needs of the neonatal, pediatric, adolescent and/or adult patient in regards to their growth and development process. Understands isolation precautions and radiation health standards as required for patients and personnel. Takes call to meet staffing needs of the department. Maintains knowledge of current trends and techniques in vascular, interventional and fluoroscopic procedures through appropriate technical journals or in-services and educational programs in order to enhance expertise. Anticipates potential urgent/emergent situations, recognizes them and is prepared for and carries out appropriate action. Operates emergency equipment per department policy (suction, respiratory, code cart, etc.). Demonstrates courteous behavior toward fellow employees, physicians, patients and families. Follows Universal Precautions. Obtains clinical history to help guide the diagnostic process and provide clinical information to the provider to support accurate diagnosis. Prepares Interventional suite and patient for procedures according to established guidelines. Sets up necessary machines and equipment. Assists provider with interventional and diagnostic procedures in a sterile environment, observing sterile /aseptic technique while functioning independently during these procedures. Demonstrates expertise in image quality and technique for fluoroscopy, digital subtraction angiography, digital radiography and rotational acquisition. Performs specialty functions in Interventional Radiology at a proficient level such as Dyna CT, PeriVision and iGuide programs. Utilizes post processing techniques such as Pixel shifting, edge enhancement, 3D reconstruction, vessel analysis/ measurements and other film processing manipulation. Manages ancillary equipment such as but not limited to: RF machine, Endovenous Laser, Ultrasound unit, power injector, and mechanical thrombectomy device. Performs as a team member during all aspects of the procedure and initiates necessary communications with provider, nursing staff, scheduler and floor staff. Participate in maintenance of inventory supplies, linens and other ancillary equipment. Ensures that all electronic health record documentation is complete such as ; LDAs, tech notes, orders, medication administration, specimen collection, and technical and professional billing. Ensures films are properly identified with correct annotations, assures all required information is properly completed in PACs. Performs a variety of clerical tasks including, but not limited to, retrieving films, hanging films, answering phones, scheduling examinations.
