About The Position

The Intervention Radiology (IR) Supervisor provides leadership and oversight to assure smooth and coordinated daily flow of the department. Continuously improves Interventional Radiology core processes and manages resources. The IR Supervisor is responsible for the development of the service line by staying updated on best practices, regulatory requirements, and new technologies. This role serves as a clinical and technical leader with a primary focus on technologist practice, procedural excellence, and operational efficiency. The IR Supervisor coordinates daily operations, ensures high-quality patient care, and promotes a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and alignment with UVACH’s ASPIRE values. They also assist in guiding the professional growth and development of each team member they represent through education, training, mentoring, and guidance in their professional journey. This position scrubs, monitors, and floats for IR procedures and helps provide a remarkable experience to patients, families, team members, and providers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED – Required
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program – Required
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of Interventional Radiology or Special Procedures experience – Required
  • Advanced procedural experience in vascular and interventional imaging – Required
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) – Required
  • Vascular Interventional (VI) certification – Required
  • BLS required
  • ACLS required

  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of interventional radiology procedures, imaging equipment, sterile technique, and radiation safety (ALARA principles).

Responsibilities

  • Ensures delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care in procedural settings
  • Supports patient preparation, procedural assistance, and post-procedure workflow
  • Promotes patient safety, comfort, and positive outcomes
  • Collaborates with other departments or disciplines to achieve desired quality outcomes
  • Monitors quality of core processes in the department
  • Applies the principles of radiation safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance to ensure the safety of all patients

  • Provides leadership and operational oversight across multiple IR sites, ensuring standardization of workflows, protocols, and best practices
  • Promotes alignment of clinical and operational goals across all locations within the IR service line
  • Collaborates with department leader, leaders across all sites, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize resource utilization, staffing models, and patient access across sites
  • Leads change management initiatives and supports the implementation of strategies and new technologies across all sites
  • Monitors performance metrics across sites and drives improvements in quality, efficiency, and patient outcomes
  • Fosters a culture of accountability, engagement, and professional growth across geographically dispersed teams
  • Ensures consistency in staff training, competency validation, and adherence to organizational standards

  • Maintains advanced knowledge of interventional radiology procedures, techniques, and equipment

  • Supports competency in imaging, sterile technique, and procedural workflow
  • Promotes adoption of new technologies and ongoing staff education
