About The Position

Assists physicians in advanced diagnostic and interventional procedures. Performs diagnostic exams on patients in the specialized areas of interventional radiology including cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, vascular interventions, neuro-interventions, and other specialized procedures. Assists with diagnostic angiography, neuro-interventional, and other invasive procedures.

Requirements

• Successful completion of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program for Radiology Technologists (ARRT) Registered in Radiography.
• OR Graduate from an accredited registered cardiovascular invasive specialist program and two (2) years of experience in a cardiac Cath lab for RCIS-certified individuals.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• For those assigned in Special Procedure/Interventional Radiology Lab - State of Nevada License in Radiology and valid American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) Registered in Radiography.
• For those assigned in Cardiac Cath Lab - State of Nevada License in Radiology and Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or (RCES) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International or ARRT.
• Knowledge of procedures and protocols associated with radiation.
• Knowledge of specialized equipment used in interventional cases.
• Knowledge of cardiovascular procedures.
• Knowledge of hemodynamic waveforms, cardiac pressures, valve area calculations, catheter curves, and rated burst pressures.
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the human body.
• Knowledge of contrast application and contrast reaction symptoms.
• Knowledge of venipuncture techniques.
• Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control measures.
• Knowledge of neuro-body disease.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and sterile field setup.
• Knowledge of vascular anatomy, pressures; catheter curves; rated burst pressures and compliance.
• Knowledge of personal computers.
• Knowledge of department and hospital safety practices and principles.
• Knowledge of patient rights.
• Knowledge of age specific patient care practices.
• Knowledge of infection control policies and practices.
• Knowledge of handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Knowledge of department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
• Skill in utilizing computers and specialized application software for scanning and diagnostic evaluation.
• Skill in utilizing specialized equipment and techniques for diagnostic evaluation.
• Skill in reading and interpreting cardiac rhythms, vascular imaging, and diagnostic evaluations.
• Skill in performing interventional and diagnostic procedures using advanced techniques and equipment.
• Skill in positioning patients to maximize procedural outcomes.
• Skill in applying aseptic techniques.
• Skill in positioning patients properly to maximize results.
• Skill in instructing patients about procedures and post-procedure rules and guidelines.
• Skill in performing interventional procedures.
• Skill in communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties.
