About The Position

Responsible for providing assistance to at-risk students. The Intervention Specialist will work with at-risk students, their families, and school staff to develop and implement individual academic and behavioral plans. This role involves monitoring student progress, assisting with organization and study skills, and communicating empathetically with students. The position requires excellent organizational skills and a willingness to participate in professional development.

Requirements

  • Minimum of BS/BA degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or a related field
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from community, regulatory agencies, or members of staff
  • Ability to support student academic progress
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form
  • Professional in personal conduct and actions
  • Fingerprinted and passing a criminal records review prior to hiring

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in working with school age students
  • Certified/licensed in Counseling or Social Work
  • Experience using technology as an instructional tool in the classroom
  • Experience in working within a Professional Learning Community
  • Knowledge of internet search engines, Google Workspace, and other internet based applications

Responsibilities

  • Effectively work with at-risk students, their families, and school staff
  • Develop and implement individual academic and behavioral plans for school and home that generate positive student outcomes
  • Recommend and assist with interventions for at-risk students to increase their academic performance
  • Meet with at-risk students regularly to monitor progress
  • Assist students with organization and study skills
  • Communicate empathetically and effectively with students
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration
