About The Position

Provides day-to-day supervision and training of a team of P&P Specialists to accomplish the organizational objectives of the Virginia Interstate Compact Unit. Carries out administrative functions including special projects and data audits. Reviews and evaluates section and staff work to ensure coverage, appropriate casework and procedural compliance. Provides support, guidance and, if necessary, corrective action for team members. Ensures training is provided to external audiences. Provides ICOTS HelpDesk assistance to P&P staff. This position is telework-eligible.

Requirements

  • Experience working with a variety of organizational units
  • Providing corrections and Probation/Parole casework services
  • Supervising professional and support staff
  • Considerable knowledge of state and local criminal justice systems and relevant laws governing corrections, probation, parole, courts and institutions
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise professional and support staff
  • Ability to independently interpret and apply statutes, court orders, and regulations for a variety of case management functions
  • Ability to coordinate actions of independent organizational units
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with criminal justice personnel within Virginia and throughout the nation, as well as with offenders, victims, their families and other concerned citizens
  • Exceptional computer skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability to act as a team leader to facilitate team building and consensus decision-making while providing guidance and instruction
  • Experience supervising staff in a Criminal Justice setting
  • Experience as a P&P Officer
  • ICOTS and CORIS experience
