About The Position

The Interpreter provides Spanish-English interpreting services to families and children in Butler, Sedgwick, and Sumner Counties. The role supports in-home therapy appointments, evaluations, and initial IFSP appointments, and helps coordinate schedules so families’ language needs are met without disrupting services. The work is self-paced and requires the ability to think and act quickly in a demanding environment. The position operates in homes and community settings as needed and requires travel between sites and agencies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Fluency in Spanish and English.
• Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to drive between 25 and 100 miles per day.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and people skills.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to perform the work tasks within the stated physical demand requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Associate or bachelor’s degree.
• Education or work experience in translating or interpreting.

Responsibilities

• Interpret for parents during in-home therapy appointments, either in person or by phone.
• Interpret for evaluations and initial IFSP appointments.
• Coordinate schedule availability with families and therapists to ensure needs are met without disruption to services.
• Confirm appointments with parents at least 24 hours in advance.
• Relay concepts and ideas between languages.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
