About The Position

The Interpreter is responsible for providing Spanish interpretive services as requested by staff and translating forms from English to Spanish as needed. At some points, the interpreter may be asked to perform direct patient care duties, as appropriate. Requirements

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, and the public
  • Must have the ability to translate forms from English to Spanish as requested
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to provide appropriate, efficient and quality patient care
  • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules and regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and prioritize workload
  • Effective and efficient time management
  • High school diploma
  • Must be able to speak/translate Spanish fluently
  • Must have and maintain CPR certification
  • Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patient and employee-base

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year experience in a Medical environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to the Hispanic population by translating for patient care needs
  • Accurately interpret and translate critical medical information between healthcare providers and patients
  • Translate throughout the health center, working with both the providers and clinical staff to provide care
  • Ensures appropriate forms are translated from English to Spanish as requested
  • Help to schedule appointments/referrals/admissions for Spanish speaking patients outside the clinic
  • Work collaboratively with the clinical team to promote continuity of patient care
  • May assist providers/nursing staff with Medical Assisting duties as needed
  • Assist clinical staff in daily operational activities
  • Participate in meetings as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
