About The Position

The Interpreter will provide accurate and professional interpretation and translation support between Korean-speaking and English-speaking employees, managers, executives, engineers, OEM personnel, operators, and line operations teams. This role requires strong bilingual communication skills, cultural understanding, and the ability to perform both simultaneous and consecutive interpretation in fast-paced manufacturing and operational environments. This is an On-Site Position - Relocation Assistance available.

Requirements

  • Professional working proficiency in both Korean and English, including strong speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret accurately in real time and translate written materials between Korean and English.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts and specialized terminology in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Ability and willingness to work in office and production-floor environments, comply with all site safety requirements, and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to support a variable schedule; overtime, alternate shifts, weekend work, or short-notice assignments may be required based on operational needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in interpretation, translation, Korean, English, linguistics, communications, engineering, business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • One or more years of interpretation or translation experience in manufacturing, automotive, battery, engineering, construction, or another technical environment.
  • Experience supporting equipment installation, commissioning, production launch, maintenance, quality, safety, or process-improvement activities.
  • Experience using computer-assisted translation.
  • Formal interpreter or translator training, assessment, or relevant professional certification.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems, technical drawings, standard work, quality terminology, environmental requirements, and occupational safety practices.
  • Experience supporting a unionized workforce and working with external contractors, vendors, or global business partners.
  • Project coordination or project management experience.
  • Experience with document review, proofreading, version control, and translation quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic and technical language interpretation services to bridge communication between Korean- and English-speaking teams, covering scheduling and training coordination, equipment operation on the floor, safety compliance standards, equipment expansion, and various cross-functional meetings.
  • Provide consecutive, simultaneous or whispered interpretation, and summary interpretation when appropriate, for meetings, production-floor activities, training sessions, equipment installation and commissioning, audits, project reviews, and daily operational communication.
  • Interpret technical discussions involving equipment operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, automation, process changes, quality concerns, safety requirements, and manufacturing performance.
  • Translate and proofread technical and business documents, including work instructions, standard operating procedures, safety materials, training content, presentations, meeting records, signage, and process communications.
  • Prepare for assignments by reviewing agendas, drawings, terminology, reference documents, and relevant process information; request clarification when meaning or terminology is uncertain.
  • Support communication during urgent or high-risk situations while following site safety, escalation, and emergency-response requirements.
  • Facilitate communication among employees, leadership, OEM representatives, vendors, contractors, and union-represented team members without adding, omitting, or changing the speaker’s intended meaning.
  • Protect confidential, proprietary, employee, and business-sensitive information before, during, and after each assignment; promptly disclose potential conflicts of interest.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify communication gaps and recommend practical improvements to interpretation, translation, scheduling, and request-management processes.
  • Participate in team meetings, cross-training, professional development, and continuous-improvement activities to expand technical knowledge and service quality.
  • Perform other job-related duties and language-support assignments consistent with business needs.
