About The Position

Inspects and checks all items on truck equipment check list before first run of work shift period. Checklist items include tires, brakes, lights, gages, fuel level, oil level, and other fluids and water. Transports parts between plants, warehouses, vendors, and customers. May load and unload containers of parts manually on pallets or shop trucks to consolidate loads. Load and unload truck with hand trucks or by operating a lift truck at departure and/or destination points and secure material on truck to prevent damage in transit as necessary. Discovers and reports all discrepancies in shipping load to Supervisor. Drives truck to destination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations. Operates vehicle on road between departure and destination points and maneuver truck into position at receiving or shipping docks. Upon arrival at shipping or receiving dock, operator secures the vehicle with wheel chocks and/or stabilizing jacks to prevent accidental truck movement during loading and unloading. Stops at service station as designated to obtain fuel as required. Deliver and pickup truck from the leaser for periodic maintenance. May perform minor roadside repairs such as installing light bulbs, fuses, and tire chains. Performs all other duties and tasks assigned in between runs by the supervisor in charge. Maintain mileage and truck schedule records for work shift as required.

Requirements

  • Must have a current driver license.
  • Must carry a current DOT physical examination card.
  • Must agree to maintain an active Driver Qualification File (DVF).

  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
  • Maintain mileage and truck schedule records.
