The position is based at our Ottawa location; internship from Monday to Friday, with flexible hours and exclusively on-site. Pratt & Whitney Canada’s Altitude Test Facility is a world leader in the testing and evaluation of aircraft engines. Located on the renowned National Research Council of Canada, in Ottawa. The 18,000-square-foot (1672 square-meter) facility performs altitude simulation tests on turboshaft, turboprop aircraft engines and on all sizes of Auxiliary Power Units. The principal responsibility of the Test Technician is to conduct engine installation and test procedures for Altitude Testing Facility. Responsible for day-to-day test activities on development test engines, test sections, control systems, accessories and components.

Requirements

  • Be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Be enrolled in a Canadian university throughout your internship.
  • Be able to work on-site in the province where you are hired if applicable.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • Excellent communication skills in English (spoken/written).
  • Adaptable, self-motivated with good technical aptitude
  • Must be able to work effectively in fast-paced work environment.
  • Working knowledge of English to read and understand specialized instructions, plans, drawings and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and sometimes communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues.
  • The selected candidate will be required to complete a criminal background check and any applicable clearances with respect to the handling and transfer of controlled goods.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct engine installation and test procedures for Altitude Testing Facility.
  • Responsible for day-to-day test activities on development test engines, test sections, control systems, accessories and components.
  • Gain knowledge in engine testing and behavior at various atmospheric conditions.
  • Gain experience in altitude engine testing.
  • Adapt to plan/priority changes and unplanned issues will require troubleshooting and investigation.
  • Work with the ATF team to create / update standard work procedures and best practices on the facility operation and special test setups.

Benefits

  • The salary range for this role is 23.10 to 33.30 CAD.
