2027 Internship - Immersive Training/Modeling and Analysis

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics LaboratoryLaurel, MD

About The Position

This internship focuses on contributing to work that ensures the operational readiness of major U.S. weapon systems. It involves physics-based simulation, missile system analysis, and data visualization, as well as understanding sophisticated software development considering runtime constraints, networking, data flow, user input, and simulation control. The role is within the Immersive Training and Software Solutions Group (KBD), a collaborative team dedicated to connecting systems, people, and decisions through advanced integration and digital engineering. The team designs and deploys high-fidelity training systems and analytical tools supporting the Navy, Air Force, and Special Operations. Interns will design, develop, and evaluate innovative solutions to critical national challenges, be mentored by experts in software, modeling and simulation, AI/ML, and new technologies, and contribute to mission-focused problem spaces involving immersive training, user interfaces, physics-based simulation, and high-performance data analysis.
