International Transport Analyst

About The Position

Manage daily operational tasks & provide visibility to the business for the movement of 7000+ ocean containers, 400 US/Mexico Cross Border Truckload moves & 100+ air shipments annually. Coordinate the audit & payment of $30+ million in ocean/air freight spend. Manage daily communication between merchants, vendors and third-party service providers to provide international expertise when needed to facilitate the import transportation process. Keep up to date with current events, relevant laws, regulations and rules to ensure full compliance within the international transportation space.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a preference geared to a supply chain or related field
  • 3+ years international logistics experience with a working background around ocean carriers, freight forwarders/consolidators, custom house brokers and dray carriers.
  • Work experience in retail industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows/Microsoft Office
  • Detail Oriented, Strong analytical background, problem solving and project management skills
  • Ability to excel as a team player & willingness to adapt to changing priorities

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and vision of a cost-effective, service-centric global supply chain network.
  • Support a high-performing metric-driven global logistics network that optimizes the flow of imported products, information, and communication between import vendors, internal stakeholders, and warehouse teams.
  • Provide high-level performance management within the International Transportation Department by maintaining open communication and implementation of the executive strategy, vision, and goals for the organization.
  • Communicate with vendors, freight forwarders and carriers to ensure inbound shipments are booked & shipped in a timely/cost efficient method.
  • Partner with freight forwarder to manage carrier allocation matrix per each origin to ensure completion of freight contract MQC.
  • Maintain consistent communication with drayage partners & the DC for container drop-hook practices, ensuring containers are pulled and returned timely to avoid demurrage and detention.
  • Reproduce daily reporting metrics per DC with respect to container counts and accumulated monthly storage/demurrage charges for impacted containers.
  • Monitor/utilize exception reporting and take proactive action as needed to ensure the timely delivery of inbound shipments.
  • Build strategic and ethical relations with internal clients and external vendors.
  • Monitor vendor and carrier KPI reports to facilitate conversations with those partners to resolve outstanding issues and improve performance.
  • Continually analyze current processes and make recommendations for efficiency improvements.
  • Review import container manifest information accuracy for warehouse unloading and inventory receiving.
  • Daily communication with internal teams & the warehouse staff around live inbound delivery schedules.
  • Assist the team by auditing all international freight, demurrage & detention invoices.
  • Work with import compliance team to make sure import shipments comply with organization policy, local, country, and international law and processes.
  • Participate in logistical studies and provide logistics training to internal parties.
  • Assist in educating existing colleagues in areas where they need additional support as it relates to international transportation.
  • Assist in training new hires in their day-to-day responsibilities & cross train with team members within your specific area.
