About The Position

Cherry Bekaert’s International Tax team is growing! Our International Tax team helps businesses compete globally while navigating the complexities of U.S. international tax regulations and reporting requirements. As an International Tax Staff, you will support clients with international tax compliance, reporting, quantitative modeling, and consulting projects while collaborating with experienced tax professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or another relevant field of study.
  • CPA eligible with intent to pursue CPA certification.
  • At least 1 year of progressive international tax compliance experience with a public accounting firm, law firm, or large corporate tax department of a multinational company preferred.
  • Strong tax technical and accounting skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and modeling skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Candidates must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States. Cherry Bekaert will not provide work sponsorship for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with OneSource Income Tax (OIT), ProSystem fx, CCH, RIA, Engagement, or similar tax technology tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a collaborative team environment on clients’ day-to-day international tax matters while supporting managers and partners with service delivery.
  • Review and coordinate tax preparation work completed by our offshore team.
  • Prepare U.S. international tax forms, including Forms 1118, 5471, 5472, 8992, 8865, 8858, 1042, 8802, K-2, K-3, and 8833.
  • Perform calculations related to earnings and profits (E&P), Section 987 foreign exchange gains and losses, GILTI, foreign tax credits, expense apportionment and allocation, effectively connected income (ECI), Subpart F income and recapture, and Section 962.
  • Assist with international tax compliance and reporting projects, quantitative modeling, and foreign tax credit analyses.
  • Evaluate taxpayer eligibility for international tax elections and exceptions, including the GILTI high-tax exception.
  • Utilize Excel and tax technology tools to support compliance, reporting, and modeling activities.
  • Effectively manage project budgets and priorities to meet engagement deadlines.
  • Proactively build relationships and communicate effectively with clients and internal team members to deliver exceptional client service.
