About The Position

Thomas More University is seeking an International Student Services Coordinator / Designated School Official (DSO) to serve as a trusted resource for our international students and a key partner in the University’s commitment to student success, global education, and hospitality. This position provides leadership for international student services and F-1 immigration compliance while supporting students from admission through graduation. The Coordinator serves as the University’s primary operational resource for F-1 regulations, SEVIS, SEVP requirements, and international student advising, while also helping create a welcoming and engaging campus experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Ability to become and maintain eligibility as a Designated School Official.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SEVIS and F-1 immigration regulations.
  • Experience in higher education, international education, student services, advising, enrollment, or a related field.
  • Experience with Terra Dotta or comparable international student management systems.
  • Experience advising international students or coordinating student programs and events.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and institutional resource for F-1 immigration regulations and SEVP compliance.
  • Maintain accurate SEVIS records, Forms I-20, Form I-17 requirements, and required federal reporting and deadlines.
  • Advise international students on maintaining F-1 status, enrollment, employment authorization, travel, academic changes, CPT, OPT, transfers, and program extensions.
  • Monitor international student status and provide proactive outreach when academic, compliance, or personal concerns arise.
  • Coordinate international student orientation and programs supporting cultural adjustment, engagement, retention, and student success.
  • Support Graduate & Global Education programs, including residency weekends and related student and faculty coordination.
  • Collaborate with Enrollment, Academic Affairs, Student Life, Athletics, Financial Aid, the Registrar, faculty, advisors, and other campus partners.
  • Maintain Terra Dotta and other systems supporting international student services.
  • Monitor changes in federal regulations and communicate their impact to University leadership and campus partners.
  • Contribute to departmental projects, strategic initiatives, international partnerships, and operational improvements.
