About The Position

NEON is seeking applicants for a Spring 2027 International Sales & Distribution Intern position at its Los Angeles office. This internship is part of NEON's Undergraduate Internship Program, offering a comprehensive experience beyond a single team. Interns will gain practical experience in film distribution, including marketing, publicity, acquisitions, digital distribution, and theatrical sales. The program includes structured programming, cross-functional exposure, and professional development alongside a cohort of interns. NEON internships focus on real-world tasks that contribute to the success of films. Interns will work with industry veterans who are dedicated to mentoring the next generation of film professionals. The program aims to provide hands-on industry experience, behind-the-scenes insight into global film distribution, valuable professional connections, and the confidence to advance in the industry.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college/university.
  • Passion for independent film.
  • Proactive, positive attitude.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in Google Docs and Excel.
  • Collaborative spirit and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Cultural literacy and curiosity to engage with marketing and distribution campaigns.
  • Quick learner with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • High attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and analytical writing abilities.
  • Must be available to work in person three full days per week for the duration of the internship.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship in sales or marketing in film is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support sales markets by tracking competitive projects, managing screening RSVP lists and link requests, generating availability listings, and assisting with market shipment and office set-up. During the American Film Market, assist with the sales office.
  • Conduct box office research weekly for the independent international distribution landscape and for evaluating individual projects.
  • Read scripts and write coverage, evaluating them with international sales value in mind.
  • Update and track international festival requests, compile international reviews and press breaks, update grids of new marketing assets, and track/review localized artwork.
  • Perform other research and support tasks as needed, such as researching specific territories, films, or talent.
  • Participate in all-intern duties including office support, film presentations, social media sweeps, festival review coverage, and special events staffing.
