As a Non-US Accredited Foreign Graduate, the International Pharmacy Intern completes required U.S. internship hours under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. After successfully passing the FPGEE and TOEFL, eligible candidates may apply to this role. The internship uses a mixed-modality learning plan and curated learning experiences that build on the candidate’s pharmacy education and develop knowledge, skills, and abilities across patient care, practice management, leadership, and education. The internship must be completed within 18 months, and candidates are expected to complete and pass required pharmacist licensure exams and processes within 120 days after completing their U.S. internship hours. The intern helps maintain a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment and provide exceptional patient care. Duties include customer service, prescription processing, inventory and workflow management, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and support for patient care programs. Prescription verification remains outside the role’s workflow responsibilities. The intern supports pharmacy leadership and staff development, adapts to a changing community healthcare setting, and works to improve pharmacy performance and patient outcomes. Required state pharmacist licensure must be obtained within the stated timeframe; failure to complete the internship or obtain licensure as prescribed results in removal from the role and separation of employment.
