About The Position

The International Patient Coordinator works with embassy-sponsored patients and their Sponsors (generally government entities) and /or with counterparts at international medical centers and referral facilitator companies to coordinate care. In the case of embassy-sponsored patients, works to ensure that the care being received is consistent with the Letter of Guarantee from the Sponsoring Agent. Interacts on a daily basis with these external groups, international patients, Mayo staff, and Sponsoring Agents to coordinate services for patients referred by these organizations. Specific to embassy-sponsored patients, assists in obtaining authorization of services not covered by the original Letter of Guarantee. Communicates regularly with Sponsoring Agents, providing lists of patients active in the Mayo system, status, etc. Works to ensure appointments are scheduled timely and consistent with the approved care. Interacts on a daily basis with the referring groups and international patients to ensure service expectations are appropriately set, and that operations are synchronized with relevant internal Mayo staff. Must enjoy interacting with and serving a culturally diverse, international patient population and thrive in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment. Will be asked to cover other assignments in the International Office as needed. During the selection process, you may participate in an OnDemand (pre-recorded) interview that you can complete at your convenience. During the OnDemand interview, a question will appear on your screen, and you will have time to consider each question before responding. You will have the opportunity to re-record your answer to each question - Mayo Clinic will only see the final recording. The complete interview will be reviewed by a Mayo Clinic staff member and you will be notified of next steps. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Two years of relevant experience, ideally in the medical field.
  • Spanish language skills are strongly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Very strong customer service skills and a proven ability to expeditiously resolve problems.
  • Must be flexible and have the ability to respond to changing priorities and varying workloads.
  • Must have knowledge of cultural backgrounds of patients to be served.
  • Experience in a medical field, managed care or similar environment and knowledge of the Mayo system is strongly preferred.
