About The Position

The United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) is seeking an International Multimedia Journalist III for its Korean Service. This role involves researching, writing, and producing original news and feature content for broadcast and digital media platforms. Responsibilities include gathering information, conducting interviews, writing scripts, and presenting stories live or as part of recorded packages. The journalist will also adapt and translate content between English and Korean, voice material for broadcasts, contribute to production elements, and perform technical functions. The position requires the ability to work under tight deadlines, cover breaking news, and meet VOA standards for productivity and quality. The role may also involve serving as a videographer/reporter or anchor/program host. Fluency in Korean (written and spoken) and a deep knowledge of the Korean region are mandatory. The journalist will also contribute to the development of programs and digital content, and perform data entry for the digital asset management system.

Requirements

Fluency in Korean is mandatory and a requirement for the position.
Fluency in target language (written, spoken) and deep knowledge of the target area, plus the ability to adapt stories into English as assigned, within the time assigned.
Has specialized knowledge including formal education in a field desired by VOA, regularly demonstrating that added ability through the performance of his/her duties.

Responsibilities

Researches, writes and produces original news and feature content and programming as assigned for use in broadcast and digital media platforms.
Gathers information, conducts interviews, writes scripts and presents the stories live or as part of recorded radio, television or digital audio/video packages.
Conducts and writes up interviews for inclusion in his/her assigned stories.
Adapts and/or translates content produced in English into native language (Korean), as assigned.
Versions content produced in the Korean language into English for distribution, as assigned.
Participates in the creation and development of regularly scheduled or special radio and/or tv programs and/or web and social media coverage and segments as assigned.
Voices material for/during broadcasts as assigned, including material prepared by others.
Contributes to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material, as assigned.
Ability to work under tight deadlines, covering breaking news, events and or feature stories.
Performs technical functions including operation of equipment, as assigned.
Contributes to teamwork, facilitating tasks of teammates, as needed.
Meets VOA standards for productivity, quality, and meeting deadlines.
Serves as videographer/reporter, as assigned.
Serves as anchor/program host as assigned.
Makes suggestions about policy and workflow improvements.
Works independently or as a member of a team.
Logs and conducts data entry and other functions connected with VOAs digital asset management system.
Other related duties as assigned.
