About The Position

The International Area Representative supports a high school international student exchange program by recruiting host families, guiding them through applications and orientations, and providing ongoing support throughout students’ stays. The role involves community engagement, relationship-building with local schools and families, and documenting interactions and progress in an online system. It is described as an entry-level, flexible part-time 1099 role with remote work available and local travel required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to build trust and rapport with families, schools, and students from diverse backgrounds.
• Comfort conducting in-home visits and interviews.
• Self-motivation and ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Reliable transportation for local travel to schools and host family homes.
• Basic computer literacy for online documentation and applications.
• Proficiency with online application systems and digital documentation tools.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace applications.
• Comfort using smartphones or tablets for check-ins and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Identify and recruit prospective host families in the assigned area.
• Build and maintain relationships with local schools to raise awareness of student exchange opportunities.
• Promote exchange programs through community outreach and engagement activities.
• Guide prospective host families through the online application process.
• Conduct in-home interviews with potential host families and verify references.
• Facilitate host family orientations before students arrive.
• Conduct monthly check-ins with host families and students by phone or in person.
• Accurately document interactions, check-ins, and progress reports in the online system.
