About The Position

The Office of Admissions at The University of Tampa is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated International Admissions Counselor to join our admission team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in recruiting and advising prospective students for both undergraduate and graduate programs. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office products and web applications required.
  • Travel required, both domestic and internationally (approximately 25%).
  • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and passport.
  • Possess or quickly develop a thorough knowledge of SEVIS, knowledge of F1 and J1 visa regulations, and general knowledge of immigration laws and regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of admission processes and academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with diverse cultural backgrounds and an understanding of international education systems.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage with international prospective students through various channels to promote undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Assist with research and development of the international marketing strategy and implement-approved plans in coordination with the Assistant VP for International Enrollment.
  • Provide comprehensive guidance to prospective students regarding admission requirements, application procedures, and academic programs.
  • Manage and process international student applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with admission standards.
  • Serve as a backup liaison for UWC in supporting Davis Scholars and collaborate closely with the International Programs Office (IPO) to advise students after their arrival on campus.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of programming initiatives in partnership with campus departments.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for Davis Scholars following their arrival on campus.
  • Plan, organize, and execute on-campus events that support international recruitment and student engagement, including the counselor fly-in program, the Davis Globe Ceremony, and other related programs as needed.
  • Collaborate with academic departments and other stakeholders to stay informed about program offerings and changes, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information for applicants.
  • Represent the institution at international events, fairs, and educational exhibitions to promote our programs and establish partnerships.
  • Offer support and counseling to international students, addressing queries related to admissions, academic requirements, and campus life.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Office of International Student Services and international student applicants and their families.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned during the annual admission cycle.
