Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Calm, professional demeanor.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable time management and problem-solving skills; working efficiently and effectively throughout the hospital.
  • Multi-task various duties and responsibilities in a timely and reliable manner, with appropriate follow-through and accuracy.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as with a team.
  • Consistent and reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates, and other position-related calculations
  • High level of venipuncture skills, math calculations, and patient handling

Nice To Haves

  • Valid and current Registered Veterinary Technician license in the state of California is highly preferred
  • Experience in Specialty Veterinary Medicine, with a focus on internal medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate care and monitoring for animals admitted to the internal medicine department.
  • Assist with a variety of diagnostic procedures including blood work, imaging, and endoscopy.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and wound care treatments under veterinarian supervision.
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners, offering guidance on their pet’s condition and treatment options.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure equipment is properly maintained and sterilized.
  • Assist veterinarians during procedures such as biopsies and aspiration cytology.
  • Stay updated on advancements in internal medicine through continuing education.
  • Collaborate closely with other veterinary professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Advocate for the well-being of patients, ensuring they receive appropriate care and treatment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
