Ames Construction is seeking an Internal Communications Manager to lead strategies that inform, engage, and inspire employees across the organization. This role provides strategic direction for internal communications, employee engagement, and digital workplace platforms while partnering with senior leaders to align messaging with company values and business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • 5+ years in corporate communications, internal communications, or employee engagement, including at least 2 years in a leadership or people management role.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking, project management, and organizational abilities.
  • Experience managing internal communication channels and employee-facing platforms.
  • Ability to lead teams, build relationships, and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement an internal communications strategy that supports company goals and enhances employee engagement.
  • Oversee creation of internal content, including newsletters, intranet updates, leadership messages, and employee campaigns.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to develop leadership messages, talking points, presentations, and internal announcements that reinforce company vision and values.
  • Manage internal communication channels and employee resource platforms, including SharePoint, email, digital signage, Marketplace, and Supply Depot. Ensure content is organized, accessible, current, and aligned with company standards.
  • Develop programs and messaging that promote company culture, core values, and recognition initiatives.
  • Lead communication efforts for organizational changes, ensuring clarity and transparency.
  • Track engagement metrics and feedback to assess effectiveness and continuously improve strategies.
  • Manage and mentor direct reports (e.g., writers or specialists), providing guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Work closely with HR and Operations to align messaging and support cross-functional initiatives.
  • Serve as a communications partner to business functions across the organization, providing guidance, messaging support, and communication planning for initiatives that impact employees.
  • Establish standards, processes, and ownership for employee-facing content and resources to ensure information remains accurate, accessible, and east to find across platforms.
  • Other duties as assigned.
