About The Position

The Internal Communications Manager will establish an internal communications strategy in conjunction with senior managers. This role ensures that organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders. Responsibilities include planning, editing, and writing content for various internal communication mediums such as a staff intranet, monthly magazine, or regular email bulletins. The role may also involve working on content layout, keeping clients abreast of progress, and answering their questions. Additionally, the manager will storyboard or translate ideas to the creative team of art directors and designers, use social media for internal staff communication, and manage an internal communications officer or team. The role requires delivering presentations at organizational events, drafting messages or scripts from senior executives, and ensuring consistency of internal communication messages across all mediums and departments, as well as with external communication messages. The manager will also respond to staff feedback, adjust communications content accordingly, and handle internal communication responses to crisis situations. Advising senior executives of developments throughout the organization, either face-to-face or through regular written communication, is also a key part of the role. Essential skills include excellent writing, editing, and proofreading abilities, journalistic skills to source stories, strong speaking skills for presentations, sensitivity to organizational goals and values, good interpersonal and relationship-building skills, confidence to deal with senior executives, creative ability to devise communication strategies, and familiarity with information technology, especially digital and video communication means. Understanding the sector (private, public, or voluntary) is also crucial.

Responsibilities
