About The Position

The Internal Communications Manager works across the university to increase awareness, understanding, and connection to the university leadership among members of the university community, fostering an internal culture of transparency and shared understanding. The ICM will design communication plans to effectively communicate university messaging around strategic initiatives. The ICM will coordinate with university leadership, especially in university services, to ensure accurate and timely communications of university positions to internal and external audiences. To do this, the ICM will take the lead in drafting communications in the voice of university leaders to students, faculty, staff, and the Georgetown community. Additionally, the ICM acts as a central resource for sharing best practices about newsletter distribution and event promotion, actively supporting nearly 200 events + communications professionals across the University.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or related field of study.
  • At least three to four years of experience in public relations, journalism, broadcasting, higher education, non-profit institution or related area.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Good judgment.
  • Ability to work on deadline.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to exercise diplomacy.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume of communication initiatives at the same time.
