About The Position

Aeroflow Health is seeking an Internal Applications Engineering Manager to lead a team of approximately eight engineers within its Internal Applications organization. This team is undergoing a transition from VBA and Microsoft Access development to modern full-stack application development, while also modernizing legacy Access applications into web-based platforms. The manager will provide people and technical leadership, focusing on developing engineers, ensuring delivery and quality, removing roadblocks, and fostering an autonomous engineering organization. This role is primarily focused on leadership and talent development, with a requirement to maintain sufficient technical depth for coaching and guidance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including meaningful experience designing and building production full-stack applications.
  • Demonstrated experience formally leading software engineers, including coaching, performance feedback, delivery accountability, and resource planning.
  • Strong professional experience with React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
  • Strong understanding of modern application development in AWS environments.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance, evaluate engineering approaches, and participate credibly in architecture and design discussions.
  • Experience leading software delivery across competing priorities, dependencies, and resource constraints.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach engineers and help individuals grow technically and professionally.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with engineers, architects, project managers, product partners, and business stakeholders.

  • Experience modernizing legacy applications or platforms.
  • Experience leading engineers through a significant technical transformation or upskilling initiative.
  • Serverless AWS architecture experience, including Lambda, SNS/SQS, API Gateway, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, or CloudFormation.
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience with Pulumi, Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with CI/CD and modern DevOps practices.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools and workflows.

  • Healthcare, DME, finance, or insurance experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop engineers with varying levels of full-stack experience.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, establish development goals, provide feedback, and manage performance.
  • Build individualized development paths for engineers.
  • Create an environment of high trust, ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Remove roadblocks and ensure engineers have the necessary resources and support.
  • Partner with project and product management on roadmap priorities, work readiness, sequencing, dependencies, and stakeholder communication.
  • Own the engineering team’s execution, capacity management, technical quality, and delivery accountability.
  • Identify delivery risks and resource constraints and work across teams to resolve them.
  • Maintain sufficient hands-on technical depth to coach engineers, evaluate technical approaches, and provide technical direction.
  • Provide guidance across modern full-stack development using React, TypeScript, Node.js, and AWS.
  • Partner with architecture leadership on application design and technical direction.
  • Translate business requirements into actionable technical work.
  • Support the modernization of legacy applications into scalable, maintainable web-based platforms.
  • Promote and enforce strong engineering practices around architecture, code quality, testing, CI/CD, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership, architects, project managers, product partners, and business leaders.
  • Translate effectively between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Build strong working relationships across engineering teams.
  • Balance immediate delivery needs with longer-term engineering maturity and talent development.
  • Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
