About The Position

BDO is seeking energetic self-starters who can think and act like entrepreneurs for an Intern position in their Public Housing Authority practice. As an Intern, you will utilize your educational background and organizational skills to serve the firm's Public Housing Authority client base. You will assist with outsourced accounting tasks, working alongside experienced team members who will provide direction, coaching, and learning opportunities. This role offers hands-on experience with the firm's practices and people, and helps build critical relationships for career success.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters program, required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

  • Focus in Accounting, preferred
  • Leadership experience, preferred
  • Actively pursuing school credits to be able to sit for the CPA exam upon graduation, preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions as directed
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Responsibilities

  • Participates in a structured on-the-job training program and become familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Trains on BDO specific accounting software and those used in the Public Housing Industry
  • Provides various support functions to the managers during year-end close and monthly accounting engagements
  • Prepares and documents work in working papers utilizing BDO specific formats and templates
  • Contributes ideas/opinions to the engagement teams and listen/respond to other team members’ views
  • Consistently communicates with managers and seniors regarding assignment questions to complete all work in prescribed time
  • Other duties as required

Benefits

  • New Jersey Range: $34.00/hr - $38.00/hr
