About The Position

Century Aluminum is seeking motivated and focused Engineering Interns to support our operations at the Goose Creek, SC location. Interns will work hands‑on within a dynamic plant environment, supporting maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency initiatives. This role provides meaningful, real‑world experience in heavy industry while contributing to projects that directly impact plant performance.

Requirements

Actively pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Strong leadership potential and initiative.
Creative problem‑solving abilities with a willingness to learn.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work successfully within cross‑functional teams, including engineering, operations, maintenance, and safety departments.

Responsibilities

Assist in promoting safe and reliable plant maintenance activities.
Support development of repair plans and assist with equipment troubleshooting and diagnostics.
Manage and organize spare‑parts inventories and updates.
Update and create technical equipment drawings and documentation.
Participate in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment performance and operational stability.
Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies within production processes.
Assist with safety audits, inspections, and environmental compliance tasks.
Update standard operating procedures and other essential safety/process documentation.
Lead or support assigned technical projects from planning through completion.
Conduct data analysis to support recommendations and decision‑making.
Prepare and present project findings to engineering and plant leadership teams.
