About The Position

This internship offers an opportunity to gain experience within the Real Assets Debt or Real Assets Equity groups. The internship requires a full-time, 40-hour work week and is designed for individuals currently pursuing a degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a similar field. Interns who have completed their undergraduate college education or will graduate before the internship concludes are ineligible.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled full-time at a college or university pursuing a degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or similar field.
  • Internships are not available for students who have completed their undergraduate college education or who will graduate prior to the conclusion of the internship.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Loan Officers in the CML production department with the deployment of approximately $2 billion of capital into commercial real estate loans across the country.
  • Value commercial properties using discounted cash flow analysis.
  • Conduct market analysis.
  • Prepare loan applications.
  • Prepare materials for loan committee presentations, including identification of property and market risks, mitigating factors, loan terms, location analysis, demographic information, photos, and aerials.
  • Participate in meetings and conference calls to communicate loan terms, negotiate applications, discuss market and borrower topics, and observe Loan Committee presentations.
  • Assist Debt Asset Managers in the Real Assets Asset Management department with special borrower requests and troubled loans.
  • Develop servicing action memos.
  • Review leases.
  • Develop and implement loan workout strategies.
  • Perform discounted cash flow analysis for loan assets.
  • Manage loan assets throughout their life cycle.
  • Maintain current information on the loan management system.
  • Process annual property inspection reports.
  • Assist tax analysts by pulling tax bills for portfolio loans.
  • Assist valuation analysts in pulling and tracking borrower and property data.
  • Support Asset Managers, Portfolio Managers, and Real Estate Analysts in managing a $4.5 billion low-income housing portfolio.
  • Analyze and review quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Review partnership and loan documents.
  • Consolidate data on new investments.
  • Prepare site inspection forms.
  • Participate in discussions with developer partners on construction, leasing, and/or operational performance.
  • Assist the portfolio management team with investor due diligence and general portfolio management.
  • Support the reporting team by ensuring data accuracy in management systems and producing investor reporting.
  • Participate in meetings to review investment opportunities, discuss risk management approaches, and develop investment strategies.
