About The Position

GAI Consultants, Inc is seeking an Engineering Intern to work out of our Homestead, Cranberry, or Southpointe, PA office. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment that will utilize their college education and related work experience to develop professionally into a well-rounded engineer with the ability to grow in today's global environment. This is a temporary full-time position at 40 hours a week and a 3-month duration. Additional schedules will be considered. The successful candidate must be eligible to work out of one of the GAI offices listed. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment that will utilize their related experience to develop professionally and grow in today's global environment. As a GAI Student Engineering Intern, this position is responsible for assisting a team of engineers and project managers with Civil and Environmental designs and permitting. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical, communication, and computer skills.

Requirements

This is an entry-level position with no experience required.
The successful candidate should be enrolled in an electrical engineering program at a Junior or Senior level.
Enrolled in a program to receive a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, preferably civil engineering is required.
Must have good skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical reports and procedures, and governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports and other business correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other staff members.
Required mathematical skills are commensurate with the technical or engineering discipline practiced (e.g., engineering calculations, design, etc.)
Demonstrate in-depth understanding of basic computer systems and software packages. Must be willing to learn software that is specific to Power Delivery Industry.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

Experience with drafting programs, particularly AutoCAD and Revit is preferred.
Willingness to learn new programs and skills in Power Delivery.

Responsibilities

Assist in water/wastewater process and pipeline design projects for industrial and municipal clients.
Assist in Civil Engineering design and calculations for water, wastewater, and stormwater components of Land Development projects.
Participates in technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications, and technical plans.
Filling out and completing permit applications for processing.
Field work may include water sampling, site inspection, and construction administration support including completing field observation reports.
Prepare plans utilizing AutoDesk Civil 3D.
