About The Position

This is a full-time internship role with a pay rate of $18.00/hr. We are seeking a Lightning Protection Intern to support our Lightning Protection Services team. In this role, you will assist with inspections, repairs, and installations of lightning protection systems on commercial buildings while learning industry best practices. You will also help prepare reports and maintain accurate project records. The ideal candidate is interested in construction or workplace safety, comfortable working at heights, eager to learn hands‑on skills, and able to balance physical fieldwork with basic administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a college or trade school program encouraged.
  • Basic computer skills required, including Word, Excel, email use, and general written communication.
  • Physically able to lift ~50 lbs unassisted.
  • Comfortable working on commercial building roofs and climbing straight ladders, and working at heights under supervision.
  • Ability perform outdoor, hands-on work in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet ATS driving record standards.
  • Willingness to travel for projects (primarily southeastern U.S., occasional nationwide travel).
  • Ability to pass a physical exam, background check, and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work experience preferred, but motivated students, interns, or recent graduates with limited experience are welcome to apply.
  • Exposure to construction, electrical, safety, or skilled trades coursework or work experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety (OSHA concepts) preferred; training will be provided.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments. (approx. 60% field and 40% office with some variation).
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools required; opportunity to learn industry-specific tools on the job.
  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible with work hours (standard start time 7:30 a.m. start; typically an 8-hour day, with occasional longer days).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with inspections, repairs, and installations of lightning protection systems on commercial buildings, including flat roofs, office towers, and skyscrapers, under the supervision of experienced technicians.
  • Safely climb ladders, access building roofs, and work at heights while following all safety guidelines.
  • Use hand tools (wrenches, drills, etc.) to support repairs and installations.
  • Communicate professionally with project managers and team members; limited client interaction with guidance, as needed.
  • Work as part of a small field team to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
  • Travel regionally (primarily GA, TN, FL) and occasionally nationwide for projects.
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety protocols at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
