About The Position

Our programs use a multidisciplinary team consisting of psychologists, psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, case managers, nurses, peer support specialists, recovery specialists and masters level clinicians. Our clients consist of adults 18+ who are usually referred from jails, our county or private customers, psychiatric hospitals, and the community. Our programs offer medication support, case management, mental health rehabilitation, crisis intervention and individual psychotherapy – depending on the setting chosen. Treatment is individually designed for each individual based on a recovery model. Presenting mental health issues most often include: Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective, Bipolar, PTSD, and Major Depression. All clients are low income. Approximately 80% of area residents are ethnic minorities. Telecare’s unique culture and approach makes it an amazing experience for students who are willing to PLAY HARD and WORK HARD!

Requirements

  • Must be a student in a relevant program (implied by 'Internship Opportunities for All Telecare Locations! FY27' and 'students')
  • Willing to 'PLAY HARD and WORK HARD'
  • Observe all COVID19 protocols in place
  • Must have a school agreement for certain internship activities (dependent on school agreement)

Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health rehabilitation, individual and group style, as well as individual targeted case management.
  • Conduct client visits, sometimes involving family.
  • Perform services in the field or at the office.
  • Perform Telehealth services with clients from the office (dependent on school agreement).
  • Conduct all services at the location for 24/7 programs.
  • Complete paperwork, e.g. progress notes which could include Medi-Cal, Medicare, and contract/county specific forms.
  • Participate in group supervision with fellow interns of a variety of disciplines and/or levels.
  • Be part of a multidisciplinary team in which much of the staff are employees with lived experience.
  • Participate in weekly training sessions focusing on issues relevant to beginning mental health practitioners of any discipline (e.g., intakes, assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, psychotherapy, psychological assessment).
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings.
  • Complete online trainings before starting internship such as HIPAA, Corporate Compliance, etc.
