About The Position

McHale Landscape Design is offering an internship program for students interested in landscape architecture and design, horticulture, or landscape maintenance. This program provides hands-on experience working alongside professionals on real projects. McHale Landscape Design is a family-owned, full-service residential landscape design-build company founded in 1981, serving clients in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia. They integrate landscape architecture, construction, horticulture, and maintenance to create and care for outdoor environments.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Junior year or above at the time of the internship
  • In good academic standing
  • Interest in landscape architecture, landscape design, horticulture, landscape management, or a related field
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take initiative
  • Ability to work collaboratively in both office and field environments, depending on the internship assignment

  • Students applying for a Landscape Architecture or Design internship are encouraged to submit a portfolio or examples of relevant academic work.

Responsibilities

  • Site visits, field measurements, and site analysis
  • Landscape plans and design concepts

  • Exposure to projects from initial design through installation
